"Medusa" by Valérie Brusauro
Valérie Brusauro is a French artist of Italian-Vietnamese origin known for her works of art and jewelry in Swarovski crystal for a public that loves the beauty and magic of light.
Her artistic career is marked by numerous international exhibitions (Los Angeles, Barcelona, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, Bombay...) and by unique and sophisticated creations for private commissions, but also for architectural projects or celebrities (Ricky Martin, Vanessa Paradis or Nathalie Portman...).
As part of the Venice Mostra and the gala organized by the Better World Forum,
Valérie presents a work of art specially created for the event and directly inspired by her cause: the protection of the Mediterranean Sea.
The artwork and jewelry "Medusa" is entirely handmade and adorned with hundreds of Swarovski crystals.
Inspired by Greek mythology and the famous and legendary history of Medusa, Valerie brings it back to life through a luxurious crystal jellyfish with a thousand reflections.
Her light-laden filaments irresistibly attract the eye and the hand and she floats gracefully in her black taffeta case like a precious jewel.
The work "Medusa" by Valérie Brusauro is a tribute to the Greek deity of fascinating beauty who was raped by Poseidon and unjustly transformed into an evil monster by Atenas.
She was a victim of her innocent beauty and Poseidon's violent desire to possess her.
Like Poseidon, the human being wants to dominate nature instead of just
The work "Medusa" is a deep message of the artist to a return to ancestral values of veneration and respect for our environment.
"...The beauty of nature is for me the representation that a superior force that lives in it.
The sea offers us all its wonders, we must learn to contemplate them again instead of wanting to appropriate them..."
Like the Greek Medusa who turned men who dared to look her in the eye into stone, the jellyfish of our seas has the power to sting us if we invade its territory.
But the work "Medusa" by Valérie Brusauro, invites us to look at it without fear, not to turn us into stone, but to change our hearts.
"...We cannot defy nature and forget that it has the power to take back from us all that it has given us. We must simply inhabit it with the greatest humility..." Valérie
The work "Medusa" is a unique piece created by the artist Valérie Brusauro who mixes art and jewelry, under the artistic concept of "Jewel of wall".
It is entirely handmade by the artist and was created exclusively for the Better World forum within the 77th edition of the Mostra de Venise 2020.
The piece, adorned with hundreds of Swarovski crystals, floats gracefully in its black taffeta case like a precious jewel.
